The cover of the latest issue of Flare is adorned with "Good For You" singer Selena Gomez and in the supplementary Q&A, she details her latest musical ventures, what it's like to be a role model and her tight-knit friendship with fellow pop star, Taylor Swift.
When questioned about Taylor Swift's ever-growing squad of best friends, many making guest appearances on her 1989 world tour, Gomez said: "A bunch of women I look up to and admire are supporting one another, and Taylor has such a beautiful way of bringing people together. That was good for me, because the more I started working, the more uncomfortable I was. I wouldn't trust people, and Taylor has a way of stripping down everything and just getting down to being human. I love that."
Growing up as a former Disney Channel star on The Wizards of Waverly Place, it seems Gomez hasn't had as rough a transition as Miley Cyrus or even Demi Lovato, but she acknowledges her desire to please her fans. "I was very disappointed when I would see tabloid coverage of me because my intentions have never been to let down fans. I've respected everybody I've encountered in my entire life. So now that I do have this influence, I don't want to just be a name. I don't want to just be somebody you follow on Instagram who can, like, post decent pictures that they have put literally 500 filters on. I want people to really be inspired, to believe they can do whatever they want," she explains in the Flare Magazine's Q&A.
The pop singer that constantly has fellow musicians pining after her (like Justin Bieber and Nick Jonas) is currently making moves in regards to her latest solo album, the follow up to Stars Dance. According to Billboard, Gomez is slated to release her latest venture, Revival, on October 9 but already gave fans a treat ahead of the album's release, dropping a dance-track titled "Me & The Rhythm" today. Her A$AP Rocky collaboration track, "Good For You," and the Charlie XCX penned track of "Same Old Love" will also be featured on the upcoming album.
