Bruno Mars may be used to playing massive stadiums (and even the Super Bowl, potentially twice) but soon he'll be heading to the small screen. On Thursday (Oct. 8), it was announced that the "Uptown Funk" singer has partnered with NBC, Empire executive producer Brian Grazer and Brooklyn Nine-Nine writer Prentice Penny to create a scripted sitcom.

Mars and Penny have collaborated on the untitled new sitcom after bonding over a love of music and comedy. The new show is set to focus on a "loud, boisterous and quarrelsome" family and what happens when they take in their sunny 10-year-old nephew, Deadline reports. Following the style of Penny's Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the new show is set to be a single-camera sitcom. Mars' background will come into play through musical sequences.

Oh yes, the show is a musical.

Despite Mars' involvement, the show is not autobiographical for the 30-year-old singer. It's also unconfirmed if he will be appearing in the show at all or writing any of its music.

Mars isn't the only music superstar to get a scripted television pilot. Earlier this fall, Nicki Minaj announced she's teaming up with ABC Family to create a series based on her life. The "Anaconda" rapper is now on the search for the girl to play "Young Nicki" on her yet-to-be-titled show.
