Every now and then and artists attempt to bring Eastern influenced music and fuse it with Western themes, and Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood is the next to attempt such a collaboration in a new documentary and album titled Junun.

Academy Award Nominated director Paul Thomas Anderson debuted the film at the New York Film Festival Thursday, and during a post-screening Q&A announced the album would be released next month on Friday Oct. 9 via Nonesuch Records.

Greenwood spent the early half of 2015 in India recording the album with Israeli composer Shye Ben Tzur and a dozen local Indian artists known as the Rajasthan Express, according to Consequence of Sound. The film is a recording of those sessions.

Produced by Radiohead collaborator Nigel Godrich, the album seems to be a mix of "Arabic Indian" music and the electronic rock sounds that inform Radiohead's music style. The album's trailer, which features the track "Roked," confirms that with Greenwood playing with synth sounds on a laptop while the band claps and sings along for a beautiful melding of worlds.

Anderson said Greenwood and Rajasthan Express plan to perform the LP in its entirety in London and hope to bring the show to the U.S. if all the members can obtain visas.

Radiohead, in the meantime, is reportedly working on a new album they hope to have out by the end of the year. The band went into the studio this month and plan to crank out its latest full-length LP in that time. With all of the band members working on such diverse projects over the past couple of years; it's sure to have some eclectic tastes from all over the world.

Junun the documentary will be available to stream on Oct. 9, the same day as the album's release, through the global video service MUBI. Watch the album's trailer below.
