Bass house producer Wave Racer dropped his debut EP Flash Drive today. The release comes via the Australian label Future Classic (home of Cashmere Cat, Flight Facilities and Flume among others) and features collaborations with Cosmo's Midnight, Lido, and Baby. Stream Flash Drive via the artist's SoundCloud linked below or download it on iTunes.

As reported by This Song Slaps, Flash Drive comes "highly anticipated." Each of the EP's four tracks is a perfect example of Wave Racer's purely neon sound often described as future bass infused with disco melodies. According to InTheMix, the producer described his EP as drawing from "Earth Wind & Fire and The Whispers and combining them with Chicago Footwork, Jersey Club and Baltimore Club to create one thing."

Flash Drive's title track is a highlight. Featuring Barbie-ish vocals from the enigmatic Baby and clearly taking a cue from the PC music movement, "Flash Drive" is as bubbly and cute as its pastel video which is visually reminiscent of Lisa Frank's Trapper Keeper collection from the 90s. Check out the video below.

When Wave Racer shared "Flash Drive" over the summer, it had been over a year since the Sydney-based producer had released any original material. Before that, the artist had made some serious waves with a number of remixes that by now are well-loved worldwide.

Wave Racer's remixes for Flight Facilities, Ryan Hemsworth, and Foster the People have all garnered millions of plays each and became staples in countless other DJs' sets, even throughout this past summer festival season. Listen to Wave Racer's glittery, glitchy remix of Foster the People's "Best Friend" below.

As NestHQ pointed out upon the release of the official video for the new Wave Runner single, "It plays in a similar candy-coated dance world as his previous productions, while showing us that his originals can sound just as fun and catchy as the remixes he's best known for." The same can be said of the entire EP.
