After punching a cop during a Las Vegas scuffle, "The Hills" crooner The Weeknd has managed to dodge jail time.

According to HotNewHipHop (via TMZ), the Canadian singer appeared in court this week and plead no contest to the January incident. Instead of jail time, The Weeknd will have to give $1,000 to a fund for injured police officers. He was also ordered to complete anger management, an alcohol evaluation and 50 hours of community service, which will take place at a non-profit in Canada.

In addition to community service, The Weeknd will also have to stay out of trouble in order to have his case dismissed.

The Weeknd reportedly punched a cop in the back of the head in January of this year after authorities attempted to break up a large scuffle at the Cromwell Hotel in Las Vegas.

He was arrested following the incident.

Aside from his run in with the law, The Weeknd has had a pretty good year musically. As previously reported, he leads the nominees at the 2015 Soul Train Awards. Earning five nods, The Weeknd is nominated for Best R&B/Soul Male Artist and Best Album of the Year for Beauty Behind the Madness as well as Video and Song of the Year and The Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award.

Following a high profile gig on Saturday Night Live and remixes from Nicki Minaj and Eminem, The Weeknd's lead Beauty Behind the Madness single "The Hills" has topped the U.S. singles charts for a fifth consecutive week. Eminem and Minaj's remixes of "The Hills" gave the song a 93 percent boost in sales (to 189,000 total downloads), which helped secure the song's top spot.

In September, BBM debuted on the Billboard 200 with 410,000 units. The album, which came in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and R&B/Hip-hop Albums charts, also made The Weeknd the 6th artist to ever boast more than 10 tracks on the Hot 100.
