The Sith Lord, Darth Maul was arguably the best character in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, and he has since cultivated a cult following in the recently defunct Expanded Universe and other Star Wars canon. There's no denying the character has amazing commercial potential, so why did the proposed video game from developers studio Red Fly Studio, commissioned by LucasArts, and focusing on Maul in some heavy third-person fighter gameplay get canceled? Thanks to the partnership of Disney and Lucasfilm, the project was shelved, but a new Reddit AMA with studio head Dan Borth has revealed that a demo is in the works for an origin story game that will be shown to EA Games, the exclusive Star Wars gaming developer. "We have been burning a candle for this game since it was killed in hopes we can get it turned back on again," the Red Fly Studios CEO and owner said in this extensive and informative AMA (via Gamma Squad). "IF that is to happen we need to approach EA with a demo that will impress them. I think we have that or are close to it. Still it is completely not up to us."

Borth went on to answer questions about the game, explain how he wanted the story to be about Maul's upbringing that led him to become a Sith Lord, and plenty more. Read this Reddit AMA right here!
