Liam Gallagher has reportedly been expressing his anger, referring to his brother Noel as a "sell-out" for allowing a new John Lewis campaign to use Oasis' song "Half The World Away" for a new Christmas advertisement.

According to NME, the 1994 B-side track, which was originally written and performed by Noel alone, has been reinterpreted by Norwegian singer Aurora for the commercial with Noel's approval.

A source close to UK blog the Daily Mirror, as reported by NME, stated that the former Oasis singer, Liam, "has been making his usual snidey remarks about the song being on the John Lewis advert." The unidentified source added, "When he first heard about it he was ranting in his own local pub in Hampstead, north London, to just about anyone who'd listen... [Liam] accused Noel of being shameless for letting John Lewis use the track... He's told mutual friends and family that Noel is a sell-out, and even joked that he won't be welcome in the local pub near their mum's house... not that he can enforce that!"

NME further reported that Liam has not been the only person to criticize Noel's decision, with former Oasis label head Alan McGee snidely commenting that he hopes Noel was paid handsomely for the permit. "I think it's rubbish," McGee said. "I don't know what anybody else thinks of it, though. I'm pleased for Noel that he got his royalties, I hope they gave him a million quid but I thought actually it was rubbish."

Previous John Lewis ad campaigns featured a Tom Odell reinterpretation of John Lennon's "Real Love," a Lily Allen cover of Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know," an Ellie Goulding cover of Elton John's "Your Song" and let's not forget the inaugural folk cover of Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine."

While rumors continue to churn regarding an Oasis reunion, especially with a documentary project currently in the works (curated by the creators of the Amy Winehouse documentary), a type of discord such as this could only delay the process. Noel and Liam have shown to have had a rocky relationship from the start.
