Gwen Stefani has been scarce when it comes to hits on the radio as of late, but it only makes sense since she's been holding her own as one of four judges on NBC's The Voice, along with current boyfriend Blake Shelton. The former No Doubt singer stopped by Elvis Duran and the Z100 Morning Show to discuss how her recent divorce from Gavin Rossdale has inspired to get into the studio and craft new music.

"Especially with success or with art, you can get blocked," Stefani told Elvis Duran and The Z100 Morning Show Thursday. "I think that with everything that had gone down in my life in the last five years, I got blocked! I got really insecure about it and even during the solo period I was so scared to go in with someone."

Even though all she could think about doing was spending her days crying in bed, the "Spiderwebs" singer forced herself back into the studio after finding out her husband at the time, Gavin Rossdale, was cheating with their nanny.

"I went to the studio and I was just convinced that I had to make something out of this," Stefani explained. "There's no way, I'm not going to go online and waste my time, I'm going to do something creative."

Her impending studio album hasn't yet been given a release date, but the singer admitted that she penned most of the album in a total of eight weeks. However, she plans to focus on a few more tracks before bringing the album to light.

Before dropping her heart-wrenching single, "Used to Love You," the mother of three was urged to reconsider her album as a whole before bringing it to the public. "They said the record, they thought, was too personal, which is so weird because I always felt like that's what I did," Stefani told Duran. "But now it's crazy because once I had that song, all the other songs kind of make sense now."

Stefani has been parading around with Shelton, who underwent a divorce of his own with fellow country singer, Miranda Lambert.
