On Wednesday (Dec. 9), August Alsina sent out a series of tweets slamming his label, Def Jam, for leaking his This Thing Called Life album a couple days early. He then returned to social media to clarify his attention grabbing blurbs.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Alsina apologized for his “f*ck you” tweet and the disappointment the leak may have caused his fans.

“I understand that mistakes are made because I for one have made PLENTY myself but that doesn't make them easy to accept,” he wrote. “I have a great deal of respect for my Def Jam family, but I hate the disappointment my album leaking has caused my fans. I hope this letter provides a better understanding of where I’m coming from.”

The label posted Alsina’s sophomore album ahead of its release on the New Orleans singer’s Vevo Channel.

Earlier this month, Alsina took to Instagram to share the 12-track playlist for his forthcoming album in a series of individual posts. He unveiled songs from the tracklist one-by-one along with their production credits. In addition to the lead single “Song Cry” and previously released cut “Hip-Hop,” TTCL will include guest appearances from Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Jadakiss and Anthony Hamilton.

In September, Alsina shared Instagram videos of DJ Khaled praising his new album and comparing it to classics.

“The structure’s unbelievable, man. Not lying to you, it’s on my mama,” Khaled said of Alsina's sophomore release. “I like the way you sequenced the album. I love the music. The only time I’ve ever heard albums like that was Dr. Dre’s Chronic or NasIllmatic.”

TTCL follows 2014's Testimony, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales of 67,000 copies in the United States. TTCL will be released everywhere on Dec. 11.
