Diplo's residency on BBC Radio 1, rightfully titled, Diplo and Friends, has brought several artist into the spotlight when invited to spin on his show, however, every now and then, Diplo himself jumps in and spins for a few hours. Released via BBC Radio 1 is Diplo's, two-hour, Year End Mix, filled with some of the best tracks of 2015.
As one of 2015's most highly talked about producers, Diplo seems to have his name involved in almost everything. Of course, he and linked up to form Jack Ü, which ended up being the biggest super-duo of 2015, releasing the chart topping track, "Where Are Ü Now," with Justin Bieber; currently holding over 360 million views on YouTube. In a somewhat ironic point of timing, Skrillex and Diplo (Jack Ü) went on Diplo and Friends and released a two hour mix, just over a year ago to the day!
Aside from Jack Ü, Diplo is known for being a part of the three-headed monster, Major Lazer, comprised of Diplo, Jillionaire, and Walshy Fire. They released a massive album this year, Peace Is The Mission, and Diplo (as Jack Ü) also released a massive EP titled, Jack Ü, with another Major Lazer announcing a new album on the way titled, Music Is The Weapon (release date TBD).
As if having all of this in with his collest collaborators weren't enough, Diplo may be nominated for three Grammy Awards, on his own, this year; one for Producer of the Year, One for Best Dance/Electronic Album, and Best Dance recording.
With all that Diplo has done in 2015, this Diplo and Friends Year-End Mix, signifies a culmination of all of his hard work, collaborations, chart-topping tracks, and most importantly, Diplo's skills as a solo artist. The 2-hour long mix, consists of well over 70 tracks including songs Drake, Fetty Wap, Major Lazer, Jack Ü, Duke Dumont, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd and more. After all of Diplo's accomplishments in 2015, and this mix as icing on the cake, it'll be interesting to see if he'll in fact take home that Grammy for Producer of the year.
