Lotus have debuted a brand new single titled "Eats The Light" in anticipation of their upcoming studio album release, as well as announced a live DVD for release sometime in 2016.

Like most of their tracks, "Eats The Light" thrives on its driving beat, with vocals from Gabe Otto of Pan Astral delivering one of the band's most successful hooks to date, with the band claiming influence from Talking Heads on their official website. You can currently purchase the track via Bandcamp.

The Philadelphia-based band's currently untitled album, which the electronic outfit have been sitting on since 2014, will be released this spring. It will also be the first Lotus album to feature vocals on every track, including features from Mutlu and Steve Yutzy-Burkey.

"We just wanted to have an album that felt unified in that way," says Jesse Miller to Billboard regarding the new record. "We like writing songs for singers, but since it's not a big part of our live show it's never something that we've ever gone all in on for a full album. To me it felt like natural progression from other things we're doing. It's not that much different than bringing somebody in to play a saxophone. You can still hear that Lotus sound; It never feels to me like it's Lotus featuring somebody else."

The band's live DVD, which was recorded in September of 2014, will be released later this year and the band plans to "tour heavily" during the fall. The new album will serve as a sort-of follow-up to 2014's Gilded Age, if follow-up's really exist in the jam band community. It will mark the band's thirteenth overall release, including live albums and EP's.
