Lotus drummer Chuck Morris and his son Charley set out for a kayaking trip in Arkansas, and they have been reported missing for a week now.

According to USA Today, the father and son are presumed dead. Officials note that they might have drowned in Beaver Lake; a recovery effort has been launched.

On the same day, the pair went missing, Morris' wife, Jennifer Thompson reached out to the police to report them missing and a task force set out for a search immediately.

However, the Mirror UK reports that on the first night of the search, they found Morris' kayak. then the next day, they found his coat and hat.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office has now enlisted the help of the wildlife department as well as volunteer rescuers from the Cajun Coast Search and Rescue Team to go through more than 31,000 acres of Beaver Lake in an effort to find the pair.

While it began as a rescue effort, the longer they weren't found, the more convinced officials became that they were now doing a recovery mission instead.

Lotus' Prayer

Lotus has kept their fans updated on the situation and kept them in the loop while investigators and the recovery team continue their search.

"We were all hoping for a miracle," the rock band wrote on social media. "But at this point, the search for Chuck & Charley has moved to a recovery."

"With help from K9 teams, there is a probable location on the lake, but logistical challenges including temp, weather, and depth have prevented a recovery thus far."

"It is unknown how long these efforts may take," the post continued. "While we are deeply grieving, we plan to celebrate Chuck and Charley's lives, our memories with them, and what they meant to so many people."

Lotus' post was confirmed by the Benton County Sheriff's Office, who noted that resources into finding and rescuing the drummer and his son have been "scaled back."

"As of today we have scaled back the recovery operation today and only utilizing a few boats with k9 units attached," a spokesperson told CBS News. "Going forward, we will have our lake division scan the area regularly in hope to provide closure for the family."
