Festival lineups have been coming at us seemingly in pairs or threesomes each day this week, but there has also been some bad news on the business front to start March. TomorrowWorld announced that it wouldn't hold its 2016 edition yesterday and another one bit the dust as well. Squamish Valley Music Festival made the announcement that it wasn't going ahead with its planned 2016 festival this year.

In an announcement, organizers said, "We have made the extremely difficult decision to not proceed with the 2016 festival, due to take place in August. This decision was not made lightly and we sincerely apologize to all the people this decision affects: the fans, artists, industry partners, corporate partners, suppliers and all of our supporters within the community of Squamish."

Last year's edition featured acts like Sam Smith, Drake, Mumford & Sons, Porter Robinson, Kaskade, Of Monsters & Men, Alabama Shakes and Chance The Rapper on the bill. Past editions in its six year history have features names like Bruno Mars, Eminem, the Arctic Monkeys, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Childish Gambino, Pretty Lights, Queens of The Stone Age and Weezer.

Squamish did not give an exact reason as to why it folded or if it would try and come back in the future. It's Facebook and Twitter accounts have been deleted. It was slated to take place from Aug. 5-7 at Logger Sports Grounds and Brennan Park field complex in Squamish north of Vancouver. It generated about 120,000 attendees in 2015.

There is some speculation as to why the three-day music festival went under. It was competing with another large, similar music festival in the area, Pemberton Music Festival that could have outmuscled it from the market. There has also been talk of the weak Canadian dollar having an adverse effect on the ability for promoters to go out and book top level talent with weaker purchasing power.
