Brian "Head" Welch has been through some hard times as of late in addition to strife with his band Korn. However, things have gotten better according to a new interview. To celebrate his life turning around, Welch is talking a new album, as well as premiering the emotional new trailer for his book.
In addition to Korn recording a new album, which Welch says will be surprising, he is also slated to release a new book entitled With My Eyes Wide Open: Miracles and Mistakes on My Way Back to Korn on Nelson Books on May 17. In order to turn his life around, Welch turned to religion and sobriety.
“When I think about it, my life was torn to pieces,” Welch told Billboard. “On the outside, I had everything. I was in Korn, and I was playing the big shows. I got divorced, but I had a healthy daughter. I had a nice house, cars and on the outside, it was great. But I lost who I was, and after I got myself together, I was happy inside, but things on the outside didn’t look so well.”
Welch continued with, “I lost my house to foreclosure and went through so much. But I didn’t run back to the drugs and alcohol. I stayed with my faith. I took my hits and kept going and got back to the place where I am now. Seeing that trailer is a tearjerker because I’ve come so far and I’m really proud of where I am now, and it feels great.”
In addition to working on the twelfth studio album, Korn also recently announced a co-headlining tour with Rob Zombie. The tour consists of 26-dates across the U.S. and will run from mid-July to early September. A few of the dates are included in an offer called “Ticket to Rock” which will give fans the opportunity to see other acts such as Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Disturbed and Breaking Benjamin by using a single pass.
