First Look at Nia Long in 'NCIS: Los Angeles' Season 9; Team Crashes Party In First Mission
The first photos of Nia Long as the new executive assistant director of the team in “NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 9 have been released. She will be introduced in the first episode of the season as Shay Mosely. She is expected to bring her East Coast character and style to the West Coast team.
EP R. Scott Gemmill said in a press conference that they could not be happier to have Long join the show according to Entertainment Weekly. He added, "The character was created specifically for Nia to capitalize on her strengths and personality, and we are excited about the new opportunities and dynamics she brings to the show.”
Shay Mosely will be replacing Owen Granger, who was played by the late Miguel Ferrer for five seasons reports Parade. He died in January due to throat cancer at 61 years old.
Long is best known for her movies “Boiler Room” and “Big Momma’s House.” She was recently seen in “Empire,” “Dear White People” and “Hand of God.” Her latest project is the movie “Life in a Year,” which is set to premiere in 2018.
Prior to the “NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 9 premiere on October 1, John P. Kousakis, another EP and director of the show, gave a few hints about the new season. Through his tweets, Kousakis revealed that the premiere episode will be titled “Party Crashers.” It was written by Gemmill.
"This Premiere script begins the exciting thrills & outstanding stories the #bestcastandcrewinthebiz will present to our loyal fans in S9," Kousakis posted on Twitter. NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 9 spoilers indicate that the team will go undercover and will crash a big party in its first mission of the season.
Meanwhile, another storyline that fans are looking forward to in “NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 9 is how Sam (LL Cool J) continues to deal with his wife’s death. He is said to once again will try to push everyone who cares for him away. Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Hetty (Linda Hunt) will have a difficult time making him feel he is not alone in his ordeal.
