Frances Bean Cobain recently talked about her sobriety. The daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love revealed that she has been sober for two years.
On her Instagram account, the 25-year-old model detailed her previous struggles with drugs and alcohol and said that she just celebrated her second birthday being sober. In her lengthy post, Frances also admitted that being sober is a daily struggle, but it is something she chooses to do every day.
"How we treat our bodies directly correlates to how we treat our souls. It's all interconnected. It has to be. So I'm gonna take today to celebrate my vibrant health and the abundance of happiness, gratitude, awareness, compassion, strength, fear, loss, wisdom, and the myriad of other messy, complicated, raw emotions I feel constantly," wrote Frances.
Towards the end of her social media post, Frances said that she would be reclaiming her late dad's famous statement: "Peace, love, empathy." One fan previously transcribed Kurt's suicide note, which featured the same statement.
"Peace, love, empathy. Kurt Cobain, Frances, and Courtney. I'll be at your altar. Please keep going Courtney, for Frances. For her life, which will be so much happier without me," wrote Kurt.
Frances Bean Cobain Remembers Her Dad
Kurt passed away in 1994 when his daughter was only two years old. Even though Frances does not have a lot of memories with her dad, she gets to remember him through his voice. She previously said that she and her dad have the same speaking voice. Some of her friends also see Kurt in her.
"They look at me and you can see they're looking at a ghost. They were all getting the K.C. Jeebies hardcore. Dave said, 'She is so much like Kurt.' They were all talking amongst themselves, rehashing old stories I'd heard a million times. I was sitting in a chair, chain-smoking, looking down like this [affects total boredom]. And they went, 'You are doing exactly what your father would have done," recounted Frances.
Last year, Frances made headlines after she had an online spat with Lana Del Rey. The latter posted a cryptic message on Twitter and said that she wishes she was already dead. Frances took offense at Del Rey's statement since she lost her dad at such a young age. Del Rey previously declared that she is a huge fan of Kurt.
