Selena Gomez has not publicly addressed Demi Lovato's accidental drug overdose, but she continues to express support for her old friend.

Following reports that the troubled young diva was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, July 24, Gomez was spotted wearing an oversized t-shirt that says "keep the faith" on the back. Many assume that the positive message was Gomez's way to reach out to publicly Lovato who continues to recover.

Gomez has been friends with Lovato since they met for the first time on Barney and Friends. Up until they were teenagers, the two had been practically inseparable. While they do not seem as close in the recent years, Gomez still cares deeply about her childhood friend.

A source close to the celebrities said that the "Back To You" singer was upset and emotional when she heard about Lovato's overdose. "They've been friends since they were kids and have always been there for each other whether they've been close or not," reported People.

Another sourced told E! that Gomez has spoken to Lovato's family to offer her support.

"Selena has reached out to Demi's family members to share her love and prayers, and she is really distraught about her health," shared an unnamed source. "She hates that Demi has been suffering."

Gomez's mom, Mandy Teefey, shared a throwback photo of the child stars on Instagram following Lovato's hospitalization. On the caption, she wrote that her heart hurt for the young star.

Lovato also reportedly reached out to Gomez when the "Wolves" singer had to undergo surgery because of Lupus.

Demi Lovato's Overdose

On Tuesday, the "Sober" singer was found unresponsive inside of her home in Hollywood Hills from an apparent heroin overdose. She was immediately brought to a hospital in Los Angeles where she is being treated, reported TMZ.

In a statement, the star's publicist assured fans that the "Sorry Not Sorry" singer is awake and is in stable condition.
