Everyone is practicing social distancing and are staying home due to the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, several pop artists are spreading their music through live streaming in social media. Though locked in, they stepped up to provide comfort and relief amidst the panic over getting infected with the virus. 


"Together, At Home" Series

"Together, At Home" is a collaborative virtual music concert campaign by Global Citizen, a non-profit organization, and the World Health Organization (WHO). It taps several musical artists "to encourage people to stay home, and to help reduce the feelings of isolation and anxiety by bringing people together through music."

It was launched last Monday by Chris Martin of Coldplay. He sang bits of his band's hit songs. The following day, it was John Legend who played the piano with his wife, Chrissy Teigen, and granted song requests. Others who have played were Charlie Puth on Wednesday, and Niall Horan on Thursday.

Grammy awardee rapper Common is the latest artist who excitedly shared his live performance saying, "music is something that brings me a lot of peace".

Livestreams are done on Instagram at 4 pm ET. "Together, At Home" promotes unity and encourages to take action in fighting coronavirus.

Katharine McPhee and David Foster  

Last Monday, the "Kat and Dave" show rolled out with an impromptu concert on McPhee's Instagram. The power musician couple promised to live stream every day at 8:30 pm ET "as we try to make everyone smile and get through this together". They invited their viewers to email requests of songs and artists who can join them. This Friday, they will feature a special Broadway-themed show.

Keith Urban

On March 17, country singer and songwriter Keith Urban shared his music, saying, "I wanted to be able to play, and just play some songs and bring a little bit of entertainment into your screens right now." He performed for 30 minutes while his wife, Nicole Kidman, was watching by.


Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is hosting "Bright Minded: Live with Miley", a social media show live streams on Instagram from Monday - Friday 2:30 ET. Guests on her shows were Demi LovatoAmy SchumerRita Ora, Jeremy Scott.

Diplo

American DJ and songwriter, Diplo started streaming live DJ sets last Friday "to help keep your spirits high during our month of social distancing." He is inviting his followers to party every 1 am ET in his Instagram account.


Charli XCX

On March 18, English singer-songwriter Charli XCX, launched her daily show "Self-Isolation IG Livestream." It is a series of daily online events with various guests "to have an open emo conversation about all the things we're feeling right now" happening every 12 pm ET.


Garth Brooks

Country music singer Garth Brooks will play an acoustic concert on his weekly "Inside Studio G" Facebook series on March 23, Monday at 7 pm ET. It will be a half-hour show with Brooks, his guitar, and wife Trisha Yearwood.

What It Means

The whole world is reeling into the fear of the unexpected pandemic. These artists are providing a sense of peace and unity amidst all the uncertainties. Nobody knows when this crisis will taper down, but it surely has elevated virtual artistic performances to a higher level.
