Ed Sheeran announced that his wife Cherry Seaborn has delivered a healthy and beautiful baby girl.
In one of his Instagram posts, the English singer-songwriter revealed that he has some personal news he wanted to share with his fans.
The caption goes: "last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. We are completely in love with her."
The announcement is also Sheeran's first post on the social media platform this 2020. His last one was about his hiatus and was posted on December 2019.
In the post, the "Shape of You" singer uploaded a picture of navy blue baby socks over a quilt with sea-themed colors. These are consistent with the baby's second name Antarctica and the mother's surname Seaborn.
Lyra is derived from the lyre or harp, a musical instrument which was considered important in Ancient Greece. Most likely unintentional but the baby girl's acronym spells L.A.S.S. Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn were high school sweethearts in the past but the two reunited in 2018 and the baby girl is their first child.
The "Perfect" singer added that they are "on cloud nine" and are completely in love with their newborn. He also stated that both baby and mother are "doing amazing."
While Sheeran did post an update regarding the baby, he requested his fans to "respect their privacy at this time" so that the parents can focus on the child.
If fans want news about his music, he ended the caption with "lots of love and I'll see you when it's time to come back." This suggests that he will return to making music in the future and that fans need not worry about him quitting music.
Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry welcomed their first baby as well while John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are expecting their third child.
