Diana Rigg, known for her recent portrayal as Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones, has passed away recently at age 82. The English actress is remembered for having stellar performances in both theater and films.

She lent amazing theatre work in 1987 Follies and 1992 Medea, where she won a Tony Award. Besides Game of Thrones, she also appeared in British secret agent television series The Avengers (not to be confused with Marvel's The Avengers). Having played the role of a female spy, the theater and TV actress was also cast as Tracy Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Her agent Simon Beresford and daughter Rachael Stirling shared that the iconic actress had her last peaceful moments surrounded by her loving family. Rigg was diagnosed with cancer earlier this March and was spending her final months with joy, love, and laughter. The actress will be greatly missed, both said.

When she played as secret agent Emma Peel in The Avengers series, she became a sexy fashion icon. Many superheroes back then were supposedly based on the outfit she wears and the allure she exudes during that time. Her character Tracy Bond is the only Bond girl who married the charming British spy.

Her most favorable line in HBO's hit series Game of Thrones as Olenna Tyrell was, "Tell Cersei; I want her to know it was me." The elder matriarch of the House Tyrell was known for her quick wit and sharp sarcasm. For that reason, she earned the nickname "Queen of Thorns."

Rigg consistently received awards and nominations from her work in theatre, TV, and films. She recently won the Variety Icon Award at the Canneseries, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie at the Emmy Awards for her role in Rebecca, and Best Actress at the BAFTA TV Award for her role in Mother Love.
