It seems as though Maroon 5's "Maps" has led the band to the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. Today (Aug. 6), it was announced that the funky pop rock band will join Usher, Ariana Grande and 5 Seconds of Summer as performers at this year's VMAs.

According to MTV, this will be Adam Levine and co.'s first time performing at the VMAs, a shocking move considering how popular Maroon 5 has been in recent years.

Despite the band's new move to the performing stage at the annual award show, this isn't Maroon 5's first VMAs rodeo... the band won the Best New Artist Moonman in 2004 for Best New Artist (beating out Kanye West!).

Maroon 5 has also been nominated for VMAs in the past: for Best Group Video ("This Love") in 2004 and Best Pop Video ("Payphone") in 2012. Those clips lost to No Doubt's "It's My Life" and One Direction's "That's What Makes You Beautiful," respectively.

With no new video in this year's eligibility period, Maroon 5 is not nominated for a VMA this year. The show will air on Aug. 24.

But of course, that's because there's tons of new music from Maroon 5 on the horizon. As previously reported, the band will be releasing its fifth studio album V on Sept. 2. In a recent interview, Levine promised that V will be a diversion from Maroon 5's last album Overexposed, which he described as a "collection of pop hits." "On this record, we've balanced [pop singles by] adding a bit more thought into what would make a great album," he said.

Maroon 5's latest single "Maps" is out now. Watch the music video below.
