Green Day is back on tour, and frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was more emotional than ever when they performed on the first show of "Hella Mega Tour."

According to NME, the singer has been on the road with Weezer and Fall Out Boy as part of the tour.

Speaking to Kerrang! Armstrong felt emotional and shared his sentiments about performing and playing live for the first time in two years.

"The crowd looked like this giant flock of birds freaking out," the musician described.

He added that no one could believe what was happening with their "shared experience," and it felt like that every night.

"People were just grateful to be alive, to be around people again. It was awesome. We wanted to make it a special tour back in 2019, but when it ended up [happening] it was an unbelievable experience," he said.

Speaking about their first show, the singer said he was overwhelmed with emotions upon performing in front of his fans.

A day before playing, Armstrong said they sound-checked, and he felt emotional by the size of the place like it was the first time he had ever played in a stadium.
