The 2023 GRAMMY Awards eligibility period is ending next month, and prediction tables are starting to finalize their picks for the season.

On November 15, 2022, the final list of 2023 GRAMMY Nominees will be officially announced, and one of the most awaited categories is the coveted Album of the Year.

Through the years the Album of the Year category is being dominated mainly by pop and hip-hop albums. It would be a stunning feat if genres like rock, country, and even theatre would find their way there.

But current projections now put a huge competitor on these pop albums - and its "Encanto (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)."

Will 'Encanto' Soundtrack Be Nominated for GRAMMY's Album of the Year?

Early projections on the 2023 GRAMMY Awards Album of the Year have pointed out that Disney's "Encanto (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)" is a huge contender for the category.

In 2022, the Recording Academy has decided to expand the main four categories from 8 spots to 10 spots, thereby granting more options for voters to choose from.

Now, with the cutthroat battle between stars like Adele, Harry Styles, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, and Silk Sonic, who were all previous nominees, and some awardees of the Album of the Year, it is most likely that a musical album soundtrack would be snubbed.

But according to Hits Daily Double, "Encanto" is too big of a cultural and marketplace phenomenon to be not acknowledged in the main category.

Mainly, the outlet points out that Lin Manuel Miranda, the genius behind "Encanto," was "screwed" by the GRAMMY Awards for not recognizing the "Hamilton" soundtrack for Album of the Year.

Although it won Best Musical Theatre Album, the magnitude of "Hamilton's" influence on the world at the time was massive, it even became "a favorite in the Obama household."

Per Gold Derby, "Encanto's" odds are at 72/1, falling at the 13th spot of the entire list, trailing behind Coldplay's "Music of the Spheres" and Ed Sheeran's "=."

"It should be seriously considered for all major categories, including Album, Record and Song ("Bruno" should be a strong contender for the latter two)," HDD says.

The album is currently certified Platinum by the RIAA and has held the Billboard 200, Billboard Kid Albums, Billboard Soundtrack Albums, and Billboard Independent albums No. 1 spot for weeks.
