Bring Me The Horizon has seen massive success over the past few years as they continue to dominate charts and the festival scene, however, it's not always like that, as explained by their frontman Oli Skyes.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, the singer recalled the time when people have labeled their group as a "bunch of w******."
Skyes said they don't know how they changed other people's perception of their band, but he admitted that they were "so derided" 15 years ago.
Even though they were minding their business and creating music for their fans, the singer said it felt like the group was getting on everyone's nerves.
He later clarified that he doesn't have any bitterness toward critics who thought their music was bad.
"If I weren't in it, I'd have probably thought we were a bunch of wankers as well," he added. (via Loudwire)
Instead of being bitter toward haters, Skyes said they worked hard to become a "proper band" which led people to respect them.
Today, he feels like the majority of the public is on their side instead of constantly tearing them down.
Older Metal Fans Hated Bring Me The Horizon Before?
According to their profile with the outlet, the press and older metal fans hated Bring Me The Horizon during their early years as they were newcomers in the music scene.
However, after the release of 2008's "Suicide Season," they continued to dominate the industry and gained more fans worldwide.

Since their first album's success put pressure on them, Skyes said the group continued taking risks as they could "never make the same album twice."
"Our ethos was always to push harder. Adapt or die," he added.
Bring Me The Horizon 2022 Projects: Tour, Forthcoming EP
After their successful performances at this year's Reading & Leeds Festival in the United Kingdom, the band is set to perform in the United States starting this September.
Their first show will be at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville before performing in cities like West Springfield, Atlanta, Brooklyn, Nashville, Orlando, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Houston, and many more.
They recently released a new single titled "sTraNgeRs" which will be a part of their forthcoming secont EP "Post Human."
In a previous interview with NME, Skyes revealed that they've recorded over 45 songs for their next project, but it's unclear if all tracks made it to the final EP.
