It looks like Abel is spending a lot of time in the studio working on his next record, after releasing his recent song, "Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)," for the highly-anticipated movie "Avatar 2: The Way of the Water."

"Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)" is part of the movie's official soundtrack, which was also one of the shortlisted songs at the upcoming 2023 Academy Awards for the Best Original Song category.

When The Hollywood Reporter asked about his thoughts on the nomination, Abel had this to say: "I feel honored to be part of that list. Any kind of recognition for it feels like a blessing."

Expounding more about his feelings on being shortlisted, The Weeknd also mentioned that it "definitely feel different" being nominated at the Oscars than in the Grammys.

As for the creative process of "Nothing is Lost," The Weeknd mentioned that working with collaborators like James Cameron actually puts quite a pressure.

"I was honored, but I was nervous. It's such a big opportunity and the film is so massive that naturally I was nervous. I knew I was going to be working with some special collaborators because I was going to be working with people who had vision and knew exactly what they wanted," he admitted.

While The Weeknd seemed to be awfully silent since his release and in the past few months, the interview from the publication gave his fans a little hope that new material from the chart-topping artist is coming sooner or later.

In the latter part of the interview, he was asked if he was working in music. The Weekend, like the direct and brief that he is, offered a very straightforward answer.

"I've definitely been inspired. I've been in the studio," he answered.

Although nothing more was expounded on The Weeknd's new music, it can be said he was actually working under the radar as he surprised everyone with the release of a new music video for "Is There Someone Else," from his latest project, "Dawn FM."

The video came on the release anniversary of "Dawn FM," which was released last Jan. 7, 2022. The project debuted a year ago and only debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart upon its release.
