The early 2020s is a new era for music as vinyl records took over the market as it appears that the new generation joined the retro trend of purchasing age-old formats. More recently, it has been revealed that Kendrick Lamar amassed a new record for sales last year; which music era of his dominated the scene?

According to Uproxx, the rapper got the record for the best-selling hip-hop vinyl album of 2022. Although he released his new album "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers" last year, it was not the record that got hundreds of thousands of sales.

The outlet noted that it was the 10th-anniversary reissue of his successful 2012 album, "Good Kid, MAAD City," which featured big hits such as, "Sherane a.k.a. Master Splinter's Daughter," "Money Trees," "Compton," "Good Kid," and many more.

The outlet noted that the reissue sold a whopping 254,000 vinyl copies, making it the fourth best-selling vinyl record last year.

Aside from him, there was also another hip-hop artist who made it to the list. Tyler The Creator's recent albums, "Igor" and "Call Me If You Get Lost," sold over 172,000 and 211,000 copies, respectively.

The rapper's album got the sixth and eighth spots.

Taylor Swift got the number one spot on the best-selling vinyl of 2022 with her smash album, "Midnights" which sold over 945,000 copies.

Not only did she sell many copies of her album, but also, it became the highest-selling vinyl album of the 21st century. Swift has dethroned other artists in the previous century like Michael Jackson and Guns N' Roses with their albums "Bad" and "Dirty Dancing", respectively.
