It's been 10 years since Dan Toler passed away and his bandmates as well as many fans have been missing his presence over the past decade. Let's take a look at the life of the famous guitarist before his passing in 2013.

According to Rolling Stone, the musician, popularly known for being a member of Allman Brothers, passed away on February 25, 2013, in Manatee County, Florida.

A cause of death was not revealed, but the outlet noted that the musician suffered from ALS months before he died. Due to his medical condition, Toler was not able to speak and play guitar.

Born on September 23, 1948, All Music reported that the guitarist grew up in eastern Indiana. He has been fond of music since he was a kid as he started playing the guitar when he was 12 years old.

During the early years of his life playing the instrument, he took inspiration from genres like blues, R&B, and country.

In 1969, his career began with the group of Phil Walden's Macon under Capricorn Records. However, he wasn't successful with his first band.

The following decade, the record label's Allman Brothers Band became extremely popular, but everything changed after the deaths of members Duane Allman, the guitarist, and Berry Oakley, the bassist.

Surviving member Dickey Betts went on to have a solo career and released an album titled "Highway Call." He later decided to form his genre-defying band called Great Southern.

He later reached out to Toler to audition for his group and was successful to secure the job as a guitarist. The band went on to have a successful trajectory with their debut album and the second one, "Atlanta's Burning Down."

Years later, the Allman Brothers Band decided to reform, but this time, featuring two guitarists, Betts and Toler.

The musician became a part of the group from 1979 to 1982 with his brother, David Toler, also known as Frankie.

Aside from working with the Allmans, he also contributed to Gregg's albums "I'm No Angel" and "Just Before the Bullets Fly" under Epic Records.

By the 1990s, Toler and his brother formed a band called the Toler Brothers, but still managed to collaborate with other musicians as a contributor for their music.

His brother passed away in 2011, and a few months later, he revealed that he was diagnosed with ALS, which hindered him from playing his guitar.

Two years later, Dan Toler passed away in his sleep at the age of 65.
