Happy Pride Month! In celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community members, Sam Smith teamed up with one of the biggest gay icons, Madonna, to release the track "Vulgar." What does the song mean?

The musician has been teasing fans regarding the song for days now and it's finally out everywhere.

According to Song Tell, the latest song revolves around being confident and provocative to empower other people that being your authentic self is beautiful.

"Look like I'm dressed to kill, love how I make me feel / All black in stripper heels, move like Madonna / Rich like I'm in the Louvre, got nothin' left to prove."

In addition, it also challenges those who are conforming with what society has been pushing, which is to attempt and embarrass those people who are just expressing themselves through clothing, actions, and more.

The outlet added that both artists who appeared on the track are not afraid to be "vulgar" as they look at it from a completely different perspective, which is a source of power.

"Vulgar is beautiful, filthy, and gorgeous / Vulgar will make you dance /don't need a chorus

Say we're ridiculous / we'll just go harder."

Regarding its sound, the song had several references to the ballroom culture as the beats are reminiscent of what dancers and performers use in voguing, which is a form of dance.

"Vulgar" is now available for streaming on major music platforms online like Spotify and Apple Music.

Sam Smith Updates

The recent song release comes after Sam Smith gave fans an update regarding his health condition after canceling his concert due to his vocal problems.

Taking to their official Instagram account, the "Unholy" hitmaker, who identifies as non-binary and uses "they/them" in pronouns, shared a video discussing what happened to them after the show.

Smith said it looks like they're "going to be OK for the rest of the show" and they consider it as a really "amazing" news.

The pop star was forced to cancel their show at the Manchester AO Arena last month after performing a total of four songs.

They assured fans that they are doing their best to get back on track and perform for their fans again in the near future.

The next scheduled show for the British singer's ongoing tour would be at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreaux, on July 5. More information about their series of concerts can be found on their official website.
