Are One Direction members still friends and close years after they split?

One Direction reunion rumors have been lurking around for years as fans translate the members' statements about their relationship as signs of a potential gathering again. Most recently, Horan offered another statement about their relationship years after the band split.

One Direction Members Still Close After Split

Horan's full interview with "TODAY" will be released on Sunday, but the sneak peek of the conversation in which he spoke about his One Direction bandmates already piqued fans' interest.

In the newly-released clip before the full interview's arrival, the "Put a Little Love On Me" singer said the members are still close after the 2015 hiatus. His message resonated with host Willie Geist's belief that the band indeed "avoided the fire" that damaged other boy bands over the past years.

Horan also told British GQ that the bandmates stay in touch over the past years, though he clarified to the same magazine that they never talk about their singles or albums as soloists.

Where Are One Direction Members Now?

Amid One Direction's extended hiatus, the members have been focusing on their solo endeavors while sparking rumors regarding a potential reunion. While they are yet to perform on one stage again, they focus on expanding their careers without the other members.

Horan marked his solo debut in 2016 when he released his singles "Slow Hands" and "This Town" as part of his debut album, "Flicker." He recently dropped "The Show," years after his 2020 "Heartbreak Weather."

Liam Payne focused on having his own family and welcomed his first son with Chery Cole in 2016, but the couple soon called it quits. Before having his debut album, "LP1," in 2019, he initially released his single "Strip That Down," which featured rapper Quavo.

Meanwhile, Louis Tomlinson also had his son, Freddie, a year after One Direction announced its hiatus. In 2017, he released his singles "Just Like You" and "Back To You" before sharing his first album, "Walls," in 2020.

Tomlinson also worked in different industries, including his stint as a judge on "The X Factor" and creating the documentary "All of Those Voices."

Harry Styles remains busy with his music and film careers while also dealing with his love life. He dropped his most recent album, "Harry's House," in May 2022, which garnered the Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards this year.

On the other hand, Zayn Malik has not released any solo music projects since the success of his third album, "Nobody Is Listening."
