David Coverdale announced the upcoming "very interesting project" months after Whitesnake postponed its remaining 2023 schedule due to his health.

Whitesnake was supposed to have long European, US, and Canadian tours when the band decided to scrap the remaining schedules, for now, to allow Coverdale to recuperate from his persistent upper respiratory infection. The frontman already clarified that his status would determine when the farewell tour could resume again.

Amid the uncertainties regarding Whitesnake's return, Coverdale delivered good news to fans regarding his "interesting" project.

Is Whitesnake Resuming Its 2023 Tour?

Coverdale revealed the news in an interview with The SDR Show, saying fans would soon see something big he has been preparing to share in October.

"It's gonna be very interesting," he said before sharing a clue. "I've just been working with - I'll give you some little clues - an amazing string quartet, beautiful women out of the Reno Philharmonic and a great string arranger called Jeff DePaoli."

The singer revealed that he and producer Tom Gordon talked about having another project like Whitesnake's "Unzipped" to create a string quartet.

The October project will follow Whitesnake's recent "Still Good To Be Bad" release in April to mark the 15th anniversary of its 10th studio album, "Good To Be Bad."

Coverdale, however, did not confirm whether Whitesnake's 2023 world tour would resume before or after dropping the upcoming project. However, fans assumed he is already feeling better after suffering from "continuous health challenges" over the past months that affected the band's schedule.

What Happened to David Coverdale?

The Whitesnake frontman addressed their tour cancelation in April during an interview with "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk." Coverdale said at that time that he would still need more time to recover from his lengthy and persistent upper respiratory infection.

Instead of resuming this year, he assumed that Whitesnake might resume its farewell tour in 2024 as he aims to be physically okay before performing again.

Previously, Coverdale was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis, which led him to have his knees replaced with titanium. He also suffered a torn rotator cuff following years' worth of throwing his mic stand around whenever he performed with the band.

As a result, he spent more time in a rehabilitation facility to improve his physical health before the announcement of Whitesnake's farewell tour.
