Stray Kids is earning several new milestones in their career, which placed them right at the center of the KPOP music scene, as well as other fans' radar-but who are they, and are they the next BTS?

According to Chart Data on Twitter, the eight-membered South Korean boy group surpassed five billion streams on Spotify, making them the second most-streamed KPOP boy group.

The news of Stray Kids coming in second to BTS arrived shortly after the news of the group selling over five million copies of their newest album '5 Star' in pre-orders and two million copies of the album on its first day sale.

Other KPOP boy groups who have achieved this remarkable feat are BTS and Seventeen.

According to Forbes, BTS sold over 2.65 million copies of their album "Map of the Soul: 7" on its first day, while Seventeen beat the former's record by selling 3.99 million copies of their album "FML."

Stray Kids may be far off from the numbers racked in by the other two groups, however, it is clear that they are about to be one of the biggest KPOP sensations that will take over the world by storm very soon.

Who are Stray Kids?

Stray Kids is a group from JYP Entertainment; the name of their label and talent agency may sound familiar because it is the same company that manages the KPOP girl group Twice and the world-famous Wonder Girls.

The group consists of the following members: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmon, and I.N. They used to have another member, Woojin, who left the group in 2019.

Stray Kids was formed in 2017 through a reality show with the same name. Following their debut, the group received instant success and was already invited to international KPOP music festivals.

Their debut EP "Hellavator" debuted on the Billboard World Albums chart, which instantly put them on the map for both South Korean and international fans.

Stray Kids the Next BTS?

Many wonder is Stray Kids can achieve the same level of fame and success as BTS, however, no one is certain yet.

After all, the landscape in KPOP and the music scene during their debut were vastly different, and Stray Kids is miles away from the success and fanbase BTS has amassed over the years.

Although it is too early to speculate or reject the notion. According to reports, Stray Kids beat the seven-membered group as well as Seventeen with the most pre-orders in KPOP history.
