A family member revealed that Madonna's relatives were "preparing for the worst" because her condition was so grave.

On Saturday, a 64-year-old woman was discovered unconscious in New York and hurried to the intensive care unit, where she was reportedly intubated overnight.

On Wednesday, her manager Guy Oseary announced that she was suffering from a "serious bacterial infection" and needed time to recover, so she was postponing her tour, which was scheduled to commence on July 15 in Vancouver.

A relative of the Michigan-born singer told DailyMail.com that they spent several traumatic days unsure of her prognosis.

A family member stated that Madonna's startling collapse was a wake-up call for her, as she believes she is "invincible" and has been preparing for her tour by pushing herself to the limit.

The relative stated, "For the past few days, no one really knew where this was headed, and her family was preparing for the worst."

Therefore, it has been kept a secret since Saturday.

Madonna has six children: Lourdes, 26, Rocco, 22, David, 17, Mercy, 17, and the twins Stella and Estere, 10 years old. The New York Post reported that throughout her hospitalization, Lourdes was by her side.

She frequently posts tributes to her 92-year-old father, Silvio Ciccone, and maintains close relationships with several of her siblings. Paula, Melanie, and Jennifer are Madonna's sisters, while Anthony, Martin, Christopher, and Mario are her siblings. 66-year-old Anthony passed away in February from pharynx cancer and respiratory failure.

The Ciccone siblings all maintain a low profile, deferring to their megastar relative. A family member told DailyMail.com that her unexpected hospitalization brought them together. The relative stated, "All of Madonna's family members have come together over this."

According to sources close to the performer, she has been rehearsing six days per week to ensure that her tour is flawless. Another revealed hat her perfectionism was "driving everyone up the wall."

Madonna announced earlier this year that she would initiate her "Celebration" tour to commemorate the 40th anniversary of her musical career. The 84-date world tour was scheduled to begin on July 15 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, but Oseary revealed in an Instagram post that it has been postponed due to a health crisis.
