Mason Ramsey was one of the biggest internet stars in the late 2010s after a video of him singing a song at a grocery store in Illinois. Since then, he appeared on countless talk show programs and even performed in front of thousands of fans.

However, in recent years, the musician, also known as the Yodel Kid, kind of stepped out of the limelight to live a normal life with his family.

Fortunately to those who stood by him since the beginning of his fame, the singer is now back with a brand new single.

According to Whiskey Riff, the viral sensation is now 16 years old and had released a brand new song titled "Reasons to Come Home."

The outlet noted that the new single seemingly revolves around being emotionally attached to his hometown.

Ramsey's voice sounds completely different from back when he became famous as he had gone through puberty. Compared to his high voice with a twang before, the young singer now belts out a deeper voice register.

What Happened to Mason Ramsey?

Mason Ramsey appeared to be quiet on social media in most of 2021 and he later shared an explanation to fans as to why he stepped out of the limelight.

In a post on his official Instagram account, the young singer shared a series of photos of memories he created throughout the year including attending prom, riding a jet ski, hanging out with family members and more.

In the caption, the musician apologized to his followers for being "so quiet on social media lately."

"I've been living my life and took a step back from everything for a bit. I'm 15 now and a lot has changed since that day in Walmart. Hang tight because I've got big plans for 2022," he wrote.

How Did Mason Ramsey Get Famous?

In 2018, Mason Ramsey was filmed singing the track "Lovesick Blues" in Harrisburg, Illinois Walmart. The video made rounds online and garnered over 25 million views, which led him to become an internet meme.

Since he was making a name for himself around the internet, Ellen DeGeneres invited him to her show where he revealed that his dream was to perform at Grand Ole Opry.

Following this, he was able to perform at countless music events like Coachella. He also struck a deal with Atlantic Records and Big Loud.
