Sara Evans performs at PBS's 2014 A CAPITOL FOURTH at U.S. Capitol, West Lawn on July 4, 2014 in Washington, DC.
For over 40 years (from 1966 to 2010), Labor Day weekend meant the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon would be front and center on the TV. The telethon would air for 21 1/2 hours - kicking off on the Sunday evening preceding Labor Day and continuing until late Monday afternoon on the holiday itself. Jerry Lewis would host and stars from every aspect of entertainment would join him, raising money for muscular dystrophy.

In 2011, the program changed drastically. Jerry Lewis did not host and the show only ran for six hours on the Sunday before Labor Day. 2012 brought even more changes -- the show was renamed the MDA Show of Strength and aired for three hours. Gone was the "telethon" designation and being able to watch it on varying television networks. In 2013, it lost yet another hour.

2014 will feature the same format; the show will air on ABC on Sunday, August 31 as a two hour broadcast from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. The show was taped during May and June at the Palladium in Los Angeles and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Performers include:

Aloe Blacc
American Authors
Brad Paisley
Bret Michaels
Fall Out Boy
Jason Derulo
Jordin Sparks
Kesha
Leann Rimes
Ludacris
Matt Nathanson
R5
Rascal Flatts
