After Hollywood Life released a story describing why some online fans thought that Gomez's most recent song was about her relationship with the "Blinding Lights" singer, the "Only Murders in the Building" star responded with a note of clarification. They split up in October 2017 after a 10-month relationship. The primary lyrics of conjecture?

"Maybe I'll just disappear / I don't wanna see a tear / And the weekend's almost here."

At least she no longer had her fans keep guessing and speculating by directly denying the circulating allegations.

Meanwhile, the singer actress has recently caught flak.

When Selena Gomez unintentionally flouted the terms of the ongoing actors' strike, she was forced to erase an Instagram post. Did she forget? Is she really tone deaf, as some said because of what she did?

Gomez, who has the third-highest number of followers on the website, recently posted a black-and-white image taken on the set of "Only Murders in the Building" to promote the third season of the Hulu series in which she starred.

The multi-hyphenate, 31, captioned the since-deleted upload, "Missing and waiting @onlymurdershulu," which went against SAG-AFTRA's explicitly stated directive to all members to refrain from participating in and promoting any works in cinema or television done in accordance with a SAG-AFTRA agreement.

In addition to delivering interviews, disseminating content, and being present at premieres, this also entails going to conventions, festivals, and award ceremonies.

"Girl, the sag strike????" You are still on strike, erase it for your own good, one critic said as another agreed. Another person referred to the action as "tone deaf," and others called it "just so inconsiderate."

"This is a clear offense. Any mention of your work is prohibited since doing so would amount to promoting it on social media," many said.

"She's in a lot of trouble. Because this is a DIRECT VIOLATION of the promotion guidelines, there may be a possibility of blacklisting. Yikes," remarked a fifth netizen, while a final dissident advised the actress to "keep to the rules, or ship out."

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), the trade association that represents more than 350 major studios and streaming juggernauts, and the dual labor union, which includes both the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, have been at odds over fair pay, benefits, and protection, and has been on strike since last month.

She's not having any problems on her singing career though. Her newest single "Single Soon," just dropped and so far reviews were positive. She did have to clarify though that it was not about The Weeknd.
