Selena Gomez received flak for uploading a photo promoting her show, "Only Murders In The Building," on social media.

With the Screen Actors Guild on strike, members of the union are prohibited from posting work related to their past, current, and future projects.

Selena Gomez Takes Down 'OMITB' Photo Amid SAG Strike

Selena Gomez immediately took down her recent Instagram post which contained a video of her on the set of "Only Murders in The Building."

According to Pop Crave, Gomez captioned the now-deleted post with "Missing and wanting @onlymurdershulu."

People online dragged Gomez for posting the rather "tone-deaf" post.

However, some defended her actions, saying it might be an "honest mistake."

"Good thing that she did! She didn't do it out of ill will people! Just an oversight!" a fan said.

"Clearly an oversight on her part, but she corrected it" another commented.

"People take things way too seriously. Maybe it was an honest mistake. Or maybe she just really loves the show that she's apart of. No need to go after her. She's only human and we as humans make mistakes every day. Far worse than what she did," another shared.

Did Selena Gomez Disobey SAG-AFTRA Rules?

According to Billboard, Selena Gomez's post was kind of in a gray area.

Per the list of prohibitions that Variety shared, SAG-AFTRA members are prohibited from promoting their work via press interviews or even social media posts during the onset of a strike.

Although Gomez did not speak in the video nor encourage her followers to watch the show, Variety echoed that it's debatable if a rule breach took place.

Aside from social media posts, members are prohibited from going on tours, personal appearances, interviews, conventions, fan expos, festivals, panels, premieres, award shows, junkets, podcast appearances, and studio showcases for the promotion of their existing projects.

Meanwhile, some members are allowed to continue production provided they get a provisional permit from the SAG-AFTRA.

As for Gomez, "Only Murders In The Building" Season 3 is currently streaming on Hulu and Disney Plus. The third season features the Golden Globe-nominated actress, Martin Short, Steve Martin, Jesse Williams, Paul Rudd, and even Meryl Streep.

As of this writing, Variety reported that Gomez's rep has yet to comment on the issue while the SAG-AFTRA refused to comment on the issue at hand.
