Geordie Walker, popularly known for being the guitarist of the famed band Killing Joke, has passed away at the age of 64; what was his cause of death?

The tragic news was seemingly confirmed by his former bandmate, Martin Atkins, who shared a photo on his official Instagram account. In the caption, he simply wrote: "Geordie Walker has left the building."

A close friend of the musician named Luca Signorelli also took to social media to share the shocking announcement, saying that he received a phonecall which confirmed his good pal died in Prague. (via Blabbermouth)

As of this writing, the cause of his death has not been publicized, but it might be related to health issues as Signorelli revealed that Walker suffered from "a massive stroke" last week.

"Geordie had a reputation for being abrasive and sometimes curt with people who tried to approach him, but the reality is that he didn't want to waste his time with people he didn't like," he said of his friend.

Geordie Walker Career in Killing Joke

According to Loudwire, Geordie Walker was one of the key members of Killing Joke as he helped form the group along with drummer Paul Ferguson and singer Jaz Coleman around 1980.

The band went on to release their first EP ever called "Turn to Red" and they released their self-titled album the following year which contained some of their most popular tracks like "Requiem" and "Wardance."

Throughout his career, Walker was regarded as an aggressive guitarist because of the way he played the instrument. He admitted in a 2013 interview that he started playing less aggressive because in that way, the sound will have more definition.

In addition, he was able to develop something unique to the band with the way he played the guitar as fans would recognize the song to be a Killing Joke track just with the guitar sound alone.

Geordie Walker Life

Born Kevin Walker on December 18, 1958, he used the nickname "Geordie" throughout his career. He spent his early days in Chester-le-street, England.

It appeared that he had a knack in music since he was a kid because he started playing at a young age.

He recalled his life as a young musician in an interview with Music UK in 1984 as he explained:

"I used to run home from school at about four, lock myself in the bedroom, turn the amp up full and thrash it till he came in. It was a daily ritual."
