Lorde hinted that she is working on new music and there might be a new album on the horizon, but she also had to warn fans against the wait.

"We're not CLOSE close you guys," she wrote in response to the myriad of comments in her Instagram post. "I'm just getting so hype [and] needed to let you know .. start your excitement on a low flame and bring it up to a gentle simmer.

"We building stamina for this chapter," she added mysteriously with several emojis.

The announcement came shortly after Lorde shared a picture of herself wearing a headset, with the caption, "Listening to myself."

"L4 season is upon us," a fan account wrote in response to the post. "Lorde is teasing new music on her new Instagram post. This is not a drill."

On top of that, the "Royals" singer also archived several old pictures from her account, particularly the ones from "Solar Power," her latest album cycle.

Lorde Ends Social Media Hiatus to Tease New Music

This is not the first time Lorde has teased her fans with pictures and hints that she is working on new material and will be releasing a new album soon.

According to reports, back in August, the singer broke her social media hiatus with a picture of herself wearing a mermaid-esque bikini.

"After the show we went swimming ... These times are beautiful and they freak me out and there's so much to tell you," she wrote.

However, after her post, the singer has not revealed much about her upcoming release or when it will be coming out.

"No, this is not the start of anything out there, just want you to know there's a light inside me... Show it to you soon."

Lorde Reflects on Her Well-Being

Since the release of her third studio album two years ago, Lorde has stayed relatively away from the limelight and kept to herself.

However, there was an emotional letter she shared online that left fans feeling dejected and confused.

"It's different but the same," Lorde wrote. "I ache all the time, I forget why and then remember. I'm not trying to hide from the pain, I understand now that pain isn't something to hide from, that there's actually great beauty in moving with it. But sometimes I'm sick of being with myself.

"It might seem funny or be easy to forget, but I make records because I need to," she continued. "The songs are spells; a spell to let go of something, a spell to unlock a door. Every time I put something into words just as I see it, set it to the right music, a knot comes loose in me. But it hurts too, confronting the knots."
