Lady Gaga can handle herself just fine without the help of her little monsters, thank you very much. Or at least, she wishes that her fans would stop jumping down the throat of Perez Hilton at any rate. The pop star, currently in a Twitter feud of sorts with gossip maven Hilton, requested that her followers on Twitter stop sending threats.

"Sending threats of any kind, using hateful or abusive language, and the provoking of others on the internet is not supported by me or anything that I stand for," she wrote on her blog. "What I've seen transpiring is wrong and upsetting to me, and I've made it very clear how I feel about equality and compassion."

She also requested that social media services such as Twitter step up to police the use of violent and obscene language on their forums.

Gaga and Hilton, formerly buds, got into a row when, according to the songstress, he sent her a picture of Madonna shooting her (in reference to many accusations that Gaga stole her shtick from her pop predecessor). Gaga responded by accusing Hilton of stalking her. The blogger had apparently been shopping for a new apartment, and he claims his pursing of a unit in her building was a coincidence.

Hilton encouraged fans to show support for Gaga by buying her records, not attacking him. He's not the first media figure to face the wrath of trolls this year. One Directioners made headlines for their violent threats against writers at GQ, and Beliebers are always willing to jump in the ring for their idol.
