Before dropping her breakout debut single "drivers license," Olivia Rodrigo started as a Disney Channel star; she starred in several shows before landing the lead in "High School, Musical: The Musical: The Series."

This is why there was no surprise when the "Vampire" singer revealed that she wanted to revive her acting career and star in a coming-of-age movie.

"I love movies, I love telling stories," Rodrigo told Variety during her appearance on the red carpet of the Academy's Governors Awards on Jan. 9. "I really want to do a coming-of-age thing maybe before I'm actually of age. Maybe I am of age already."

The 20-year-old singer then explained that regardless of what the medium is, she wants to tell stories; "I just love telling stories, whether that be in a song or movie, that's really something that really excites me."

Olivia Rodrigo Wants to Return to Acting

While the "Bad Idea Right?" singer earned major accolades and awards for her debut album, "Sour," and many nominations and accolades for her sophomore album, "GUTS," she is also a brilliant actor, as per the showrunner of "High School Musical: the Musical: The Series."

"Olivia is such a good actor, which I think it can be easy to overlook because she's a world-class songwriter, but Olivia's actually an amazing actor," said Tim Ferderle, who was saddened by her exit from the show after the third season.

Rodrigo booking a role in a coming-of-age movie seems pretty plausible since she already has a background in acting and her profile is impressive. It is only a matter of time before fans will hear about the singer's newest and upcoming acting role.
