A new video game from Disney called Fantasia: Music Evolved puts the power of composing music into gamers' hands. Based off the 1940 animated film Fantasia and built by Harmonix for Xbox One and Kinect for Xbox 630, the game is powered by motion control, where different body movements allow users to interact with the music. The game hosts more than 30 artists including Avicii, Peter Gabriel, Lady Gaga, Gorillaz, Queen, Sting, Lorde, Bruno Mars, Drake, The White Stripes, Nicki Minaj, Drake, The Flaming Lips, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, and the Who as well as Beethoven, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi and other classical composers. -

Australian hip-hop fans will get a treat as Drake will go on tour in the smallest of continents and, according to Billboard, it will be his first stop ever in the land down under. DJMag's Top 10 DJ's of The Past Five Years: Music Times Calculates for Dutch Domination (and Hardwell Doesn't Even Appear!)
Just to further up the controversy, Music Times asks not who was the best DJ in the last year, but who was was the best DJ of the last five years? Our formula wasn't too complicated...we just averaged the rankings of everyone featured on the DJMag Top 100 list in the last five years. That does cause some major issues for some contestants however. Hardwell has been no. 1 for the last two years but he didn't place during 2010, suggesting a rank of at leads 101, and thereby making his mean ranking skyrocket. The name of our game is consistency. -

It's a big week for electronic dance music news. For one, the highly hyped DJMag Top 100 DJs list just hit the web this weekend. More importantly, the Amsterdam Dance Event has occurred over the last five days in the titular city. Consider it something like a SWSW exclusively for electronic music performers, with more than 2,200 acts hitting the largest city in the Netherlands for a swinging five-say stretch. Spotify and its Insights blog took the event into consideration to see just what those wily Dutch were listening to in the lead-up to the event. -

Avicii Cancels All Upcoming Performances, 'Wake Me Up' DJ Cites Health Issues
Swedish EDM superstar Avicii confirmed yesterday that he is canceling all of his upcoming performances due to health issues. The 25-year-old "Wake Me Up" star, born Tim Bergling, told Billboard that he would be suspending his upcoming promotional activities and the remainder of his current tour, as well as canceling his upcoming festival appearances, in order to focus on recovering. -
Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Tiësto and Avicii Top Forbes Highest-Paid EDM Performers List
Music Times caught Calvin Harris at Lollapalooza during the first weekend of August and noted that it seemed the DJ had invested his earning from last year-$46 million-into his elaborate and bright stage set. If our hypothesis that the size of his set directly reflects his earnings, next year's concerts will be off the charts: Harris topped Forbes' list of the highest earning electronic musicians for the second straight year, bringing a whopping $66 million over the last 12 months. -

Boston Avicii Concert Results in 36 Hospitalizations
Boston officials came prepared for the worst when Avicii played at the TD Garden on Wednesday night, and maybe that was for the best. A reported 36 individuals were transported from the arena to local hospitals for symptoms resulting from intoxication and dehydration. -
Avicii and Calvin Harris Will Headline Electric Daisy UK 2014
Insomniac has polished off the details of its United Kingdom chapter for 2014, and have released an official list of performers for 2014. Avicii and Calvin Harris will be included among the headliners for the two day festival.
