• Ranking Polaris Prize Shortlist: Drake, New Pornographers and...Ghostface Killah?

    The Polaris Music Prize has announced its annual shortlist of ten albums up for Canada's biggest music prize, and this year's gathering includes new icons Drake, old favorites the New Pornographers and, uh, Ghostface Killah?     After unveiling its long list last month, today (July 16) the 10 finalists for the 2015 Polaris Prize have been revealed. Celebrating the best in Canadian music on artistic merit along, this year's list is just as eclectic as one could have expected, with everyone from Drake to The New Pornographers to Alvvays and Tobias Jesso Jr. getting nominations.

What has been dubbed by some as "Localchella," artists like FKA Twigs, Action Bronson, Madeon, Interpol, Belle & Sebastien and many others will be appearing at this year's sideshows.

    The latest festival to announce its 2015 line-up is Primavera Sound, which is celebrating its 15th year. As can be expected from Primavera Sound, this year's lineup is absolutely killer. Among the most notable acts performing this year are Alt-J, The Black Keys, Belle & Sebastian, The Strokes, Run The Jewels, Interpol, Sun Kil Moon, Spiritualized, Mac DeMarco, Patti Smith, Panda Bear, The New Pornographers, Caribou, Ariel Pink, Tyler, The Creator, Swans, Brand New, Twin Shadow, and many, many more.

  • Caribou Announces World Tour, North American Dates in February [SCHEDULE]

    Electronica band Caribou has announced a world tour for 2015 in support of their latest album "Our Love." Following January and February dates in Australia, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan, the Dan Snaith-fronted group will embark on a brief North American tour Feb. 26, hitting Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver. After a brief stint across Western Europe in mid-March, the band will return to North America April 11 for dates in Chicago, Minneapolis and various cities across central Canada.   • NME Releases Full List of Best Albums of 2014: St. Vincent, Mac DeMarco and The War on Drugs Lead The Way

    Earlier this week we passed along the news that NME had released its choice for the best album of 2014. In its esteemed opinion, St. Vincent and her self-titled album took top prize this year, marking the first time in six years that a performer from outside of the "commonwealth" topped the British publication's list.
