  • 'Frozen' soundtrack freezes out Beyoncé, Kid Ink debuts at no. 3 with 'My Own Lane'

    This week served as another chance for 2013's biggest hits to spend another week in the Billboard Top 10 as only one new release managed to crack into the upper ranks of album sales. The albums that stuck around managed to make some marks however.
  • Canada sees increase in digital music sales; Eminem and Celine Dion top best-selling albums list

    Music Times reported as the new year began that digital music sales had decreased for the first time ever in the United States...a fairly dire report. The good news however is that digital sales are up for our favorite neighbor up north, Canada.
  • Flaming Lips, Imagine Dragons and Lauryn Hill top lineup of first Amnesty International Human Rights Concert since 1998

    Amnesty International has announced the lineup for its Human Rights Concert...the first since 1998. The show will take place at the Barclays Center in New York City on February 5, featuring headliners including the Flaming Lips, Imagine Dragons and Lauryn Hill. Other acts include Tegan and Sara, the Fray, Cold War Kids, Colbie Caillat, Cake, and organizers have hinted that more acts will be announced in coming weeks.
  • Frozen tops Billboard 200, dethrones Beyoncé and holds off Eminem

    Temperatures have been cold across the country, and so have album sales. Due to the end of the year and the low number of new releases that comes with it, the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 features a slew of familiar faces, but at least the door opened up for a few hits from throughout 2013 to make a reappearance.

    Yesterday we reported the final weekly Top 10 albums sales list of 2013, but now we have a treat for you: The Top 10 bestselling albums of the year, as found by our friends at Nielsen Soundscan and Billboard.
  • Pitbull, Ke$ha, Eminem and Rihanna end year atop Billboard Digital Downloads chart

    Music Times warned you that the final Digital Downloads' chart of the year would be chalk full of sales thanks to people cashing in on the iTunes/download cards they received for Christmas. And sure enough, it was a huge week. Every song in the Top 50 saw a sales increase, and 46 of those tracks saw rises of more than 100 percent (aka doubling in sales since last week).
  • Beyonce top charts third straight week, One Direction goes platinum, 'Frozen' soundtrack sets mark

    Last week was the last for musicians to make a statement on the charts for 2013, and at least four albums left a mark during the closing moments of the year. Let's start with the notable accomplishers.
  • A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera top Digital Downloads charts for second week

    The end of the year didn't bring any new albums to the Billboard 200 Top 10 this week, and the Top 10 of the Digital Downloads charts didn't bring too many fresh faces either.
  • Kendrick Lamar, Pink, Imagine Dragons, Nate Ruess and more join Daft Punk on Grammys lineup

    Yesterday we reported that Daft Punk would be performing on TV for the first time since 2008 at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. Now we've gotten wind of a few more artists that will hit the stage that night.

    "Timber" seemed like it might have been ready to hold down the Digital Downloads chart for a while, but another track had other ideas.

    The end of 2013 is coming ever nearer, and while every publication is listing off its best songs and albums of the year, there's only one true mark of the biggest track of 2013: the people and, thus, the Billboard charts. Today (Dec. 13) the sales-tracker released the list of the top Hot 100 songs of the year. With a mere 11 songs hitting No. 1 this year, what track took the year's top spot?
