    It has been four months since Brian Williams was suspended from anchoring NBC Nightly News and still there is no solid decision on his future with the network. Earlier this year Williams was caught "misremembering" his own war-time reporting and the network decided to make him sit out six months without pay while they scrambled to reassure the public that their reporters are indeed credible.     There has been so much attention placed on the Brian Williams scandal over at NBC News that we often forget that much of the network's house is struggling in the ratings. The Today show dominated the morning show battle for a long time, but it has fallen to ABC in recent years and the struggle to climb back on top has yet to be successful. Hoda Kotb sat in for normal newsreader, Natalie Morales last week and the ratings were actually much better than usual. This has led to intense speculation that NBC News is going to push Morales out of her Today show spot in favor of Kotb and not everyone is happy about it.

He has not only maintained the ratings of 'NBC Nightly News,' but he seems to have made that anchor seat much his own. He will likely be named the permanent anchor. Holt, while on location in South Carolina, even managed to get the first interview with Feidin Santana, the man who videotaped Officer Michael Slager shooting unarmed Walter Scott as he ran away.

Once the network figures out what else Williams may have inaccurately remembered in his other tales of heroic actions, his fate will be determined. NBC News has launched an investigation into the top anchors' reporting and the results may not be too great.

Guthrie returned to her co-anchor seat last November and NBC's powers-that-be think she is doing a great job because not only has she inked a new, three-year contract, but they have assigned her to interview President Obama during the Super Bowl pre-game show.

  • After 25 Years, Ann Curry Leaving NBC News

    Ann Curry's departure from NBC News has been nearly three years in the making. She has been gut-level unhappy at the network ever since being canned from her "Today" co-anchor spot, a firing that caused tons of backlash and months of controversy. While she was cut from the morning program she had spent 15 years with, she stayed with the network, basically making tons of money to do little. Rather than take the $12 million-a-year paycheck for minimal work, Curry started planning her exit, and on Monday, Jan. 12, it was confirmed that she is leaving the network. Curry will be beginning a new media start-up project that is backed by NBC Universal. She will also now be a free agent when it comes to reporting. She might pop up on NBC in the future, but she can also work for whatever outlet she pleases. "This is about reaching for the edge of the future in journalism, which we know is undergoing an irrevocable transition. In today's world of fragmented media, this is the time to seize the opportunity to improve the way we distribute and even tell stories. I want to expand my drive to give voice to the voiceless to emerging platforms and produce both scripted and non-scripted content, in addition to continuing to report on-air about stories that matter," said Curry in an official statement about her new position.

  • NBC Blames Sources for Inaccurate Reporting About Gunmen in 'Charlie Hebdo' Massacre

    If you were tuned in to either NBC or MSNBC last night, Jan. 7, as your source for learning what was unfolding in France, then you no doubt were shocked when the network actually was reporting completely inaccurate information for at least an hour. While there has been major police activity in Paris and various parts of France, NBC claimed there had been a shootout about 90 minutes north of the City of Lights that killed one suspect in the terrorist attack on the offices of "Charlie Hebdo." Supposedly, the other two gunmen were in custody, tying up the manhunt with a nice, neat bow. Unfortunately, none of it was true. French police did capture the youngest suspect, 18-year old Hamyd Mourad, but even as of now, Said and Cherif Kouachi remain on the run. Once NBC realized its huge mistake, its representatives issued retractions of their earlier reporting. The network told Deadline, "NBC News issued an earlier report based on intelligence from two consistently reliable U.S. counterterrorism officials in different government agencies. As soon as it became evident that our sources doubted their information, we immediately updated our reporting across all platforms and continue to do so as this fast-moving story unfolds." At the time, NBC was saying that a senior security official was the source of their information. Even though the network acknowledged their misinformation as soon as they were made aware of it, it never actually apologized for its part in passing on misleading information in something as serious as a manhunt following a terrorist attack.

  • Tom Brokaw's Cancer in Remission, Work for NBC News Continues

    Great news for Tom Brokaw, as the award-winning former NBC News anchor has announced that his cancer has gone into remission. It was in February when Brokaw confirmed that he was suffering from multiple myeloma and battling a cancer that affects blood cells in his bone marrow. He first got the bad news of his diagnosis in August 2013 and has been battling the illness ever since. Brokaw first started with NBC News in 1966 and, since retiring from the anchor seat in 2014, has stayed on with the network, working on various special projects. Even while battling cancer Brokaw has popped up with reports and interviews, proving that even what could have been a deadly disease was not going to slow him down. Just last week, Brokaw was part of a presidential delegation that traveled to Belgium to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. It was an experience that he chose to share, along with his good news, in an email to his colleagues:
