Miley Cyrus' New Song 'Nightmare' Leaks Ahead of 'Bangerz' Follow-Up & Hints of Liam Hemsworth Breakup

Miley Cyrus: Tiger Dreams

"Nightmare" follows in Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" footprint by dealing with an overwhelming sense of heartbreak. Unlike her last album Bangerz, this new effort has a notable rock feel, with poppy guitars laying beneath Cyrus' signature raspy tone. A driving guitar propels "Nightmare" forward until the beat drops and the tempo slows down to showcase Cyrus' full vulnerability.

"I woke up in another life, where nothing is really dangerous / And nothing's really dangerous / And no one really knows / I woke up in a broken dream with no one lying next to me / It's not how it's supposed to be / So why'd you have to go?" Cyrus sings in the bridge leading up to the chorus, as synthesizers kick in and the song builds to a massive crescendo.

Though sonically more rooted in the world of pop, "Nightmare" retains all the elements that helped launch Bangerz to the top of the pop conversation, so we can only expect more of the same from her as time moves on.
