The coronavirus pandemic again disrupted John Mayer's "Sob Rock Tour," first with his drummer Steve Ferrone and his background vocalist. Now, it's the singer himself who tested positive for the virus.
After a successful show in Madison Square Garden and Washington D.C., the list of the infected people in John Mayer's band and crew have grown as the singer revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19.
Mayer tested positive again
The "Your Body is a Wonderland" singer took to Instagram to announce the unfortunate news.
Because of the growing numbers, Mayer's camp has decided to reschedule the following four shows of the "Sob Rock Tour."
"I'm so sorry to make you change your plans. This is a bummer for everyone in the band and crew, to say nothing of the question hanging over everyone's head - mine included - as to how I tested positive on PCR twice in two months," John wrote on Instagram.
Initially planning just to watch Mayer's concert, Questlove received a message asking him to helm the drums since Ferrone tested positive.
Questlove also revealed that this is the third time that a "circumstance" kept him from seeing the drum idol, with the first one since Tom Petty's passing and the second being the COVID-19 pandemic postponing the tour.
Mayer thanked the substitute drummer Questlove for his presence in a thank you post on Instagram after the NYC show.
He revealed that the next concert stops would feature the same format they have performed in New York, minus Questlove.
However, former Tedeschi Trucks Band drummer JJ Johnson filled in for Ferrone on the Washington D.C. stop, the latest show Mayer did before testing positive for COVID-19.
