The iconic bassist posted the photo to the social media platform last night, saying he ran into the Dave Matthews Band frontman at Boeing Field in Seattle, WA. Matthews is currently riding high – not only because he and the bassist ran into one another – but also because his band’s debut major label album Under the Table and Dreaming just turned 20 years old. -

New Orleans is seminal in the history of jazz, and St. Louis and Chicago have had a heck of a run with the genre themselves. There's no denying the the ultimate capital of jazz has to be New York City however. Although the biggest performers have moved from famous clubs like the Blue Note and Birdland to big stages such as Lincoln Center, the city retains its relevance to the scene. Hence why it's important for the city itself to help support the cause and encourage performers to stay. New York's city council recently passed Resolution 207 A, a statement expressing support for the Justice for Jazz Artists campaign. -

Banda performer Luis Coronel became the first teenager in quite some time to land atop the Top Latin Albums chart as his 'Quiero Ser Tu Dueño' rose to the no. 1 spot last week. The last time someone younger than him managed the feat was during 2001 when Jessie Morales scored the no. 1 album with 'Homejae A Chalino Sanchez' (Morales was also 18 when he topped the charts, although he was a few months younger than Coronel is now).
