Earlier this week, Damon Albarn announced his debut solo album Everyday Robots and released a video for the title track/lead single. Now a new track has surfaced from a fan at Albarn's recent solo set at Sundance. "Lonely Press Play" deviates from the electro-folk elements of "Everyday Robots" and instead begins as a barebones acoustic number that expands with piano and string section. -

Billboard has released its annual list of the 100 most powerful figures in music, and once again, actual performers don't play much of a role. However, in one of the few spots on the list performers were able to grab, they grabbed a pretty good post: Jay Z and Beyoncé were named the most powerful "individual" in music. -

Things are getting even a little more Prismatic for 12 cities in the US and Canada. When pre-sale tickets for the North American leg of Katy Perry's Prismatic World Tour went on sale yesterday (Jan. 23), the "Dark Horse" singer announced duplicate dates in major cities along her way. -

Earlier this week we reported that Youth Lagoon had released a new song called "Worms" as part of Lefse Records' compilation The Space Project. More information on the project has now been revealed. The effort is due out Record Store Day 2014 (April 19) and features contributions from The Antlers, Beach House, Mutual Benefit, Porcelain Raft, Jesu, Anna Meredith, The Holydrug Couple, Blues Control, Zomes, Absolutely Free, Benoit & Sergio, Larry Gus and Spiritualized (appearing under the moniker The Spiritualized Mississippi Space Program). -

The Grammys supposedly exist to honor the best music from the previous year, but no one would be surprised to find out that politics were involved. A blatant, and frustrating, discussion of musical politics went on behind the scenes of this year's Best Rap Album award, and with other rap awards involving hip-hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. According to reports, voters on the rap committee attempted to exclude the group from the hip-hop categories based on its widespread popularity. -
