  • NME's Best Albums List invoke Arctic Monkeys, Queens of The Stone Age and (surprise!) Kanye West

We've already spread the word on what two of the biggest names in music media, Rolling Stone and SPIN, have been listening to during 2013. But what about our friends across the pond? NME has joined in the end of the year fun, releasing its own list of the Top 50 albums of the year. The bad news is that you have to buy the issue to get the full list (looks like those Brits are trying to generate a profit, something the rest of us music media types have given up on), but they were kind enough to share their Top 3 to the general public.

  • Watch the premiere of Lana Del Rey's short film 'Tropico' featuring the songs 'Body Electric,' 'Gods and Monsters' and 'Bel Air'

Lana Del Rey's new 27-minute short film Tropico just premiered on VEVO. It is more or less a drawn-out music video that features LDR and male model Shaun Ross as lovers in a series of connected vignettes. Directed by Anthony Mandler, the video features the songs "Body Electric," "Gods and Monsters," and "Bel Air" from the singer's Paradise Edition of Born to Die.

  • Gucci Mane announces a new Christmas album amid possible prison sentence

We know, right? We apologize in advance for very intentionally misleading you with this headline. Unfortunately, rapper Gucci Mane will not be releasing a compilation of Christmas classics.
  • Michael Jackson estate files papers for retrial in wrongful death lawsuit against AEG

When you invest as much time as the Jackson family did with its wrongful death lawsuit against AEG Live (and when you aim for a payout upwards of $40 billion), you don't take losing your case sitting down. Hence it shouldn't be too surprising when lawyers filed legal papers on Monday for Katherine Jackson (Michael Jackson's mother) and the pop star's three children, calling for a retrial.
  • Lana Dey Rey announces second LP title, 'Ultraviolence': 'Born to Die' follow-up due out sometime in 2014

Even though Lana Del Rey said earlier this year that she has a lack of inspiration for a follow-up to her 2012 hit album Born to Die, it seems like that statement was little more than a red herring. Last night (Dec. 4) while at the premiere of her short film Tropico in Hollywood, the "Summertime Sadness" singer revealed the name of her second LP.
  • Daft Punk share snippet of 'Instant Crush' music video featuring Julian Casablancas [WATCH]

As the year comes to a close, we've seen Daft Punk's Random Access Memories album cover splashed across more than one Best of 2013 list. Now, the masked robots have finished filming their video for the Julian Casablancas (The Strokes frontman) collaboration "Instant Crush," off the album. This morning, they shared a teaser of the video on French TV.

    R. Kelly is ending the year with a bang, having guest starred in a single by Lady Gaga and releasing his own album Black Panties December 10. However, the most exciting announcement from the R&B star has to be that new episodes from his ongoing hip-hopera Trapped In The Closet will air on IFC during 2014.
  • Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' most tagged song of 2013 on Shazam: Avicii, Macklemore, Rihanna also make list

Music searching service/smartphone app Shazam has revealed its most tagged songs of the year, and Robin Thicke's monster-hit "Blurred Lines" has topped the list.
  • David Bowie released his 'I'd Rather Be High' video [WATCH]

David Bowie's video for "I'd Rather Be High (Venetian Remix)" is pretty straightforward. The Next Day Extra song speaks of the realities of war, "Politics and all / I'd rather be high / I'd rather be flying / I'd rather be dead / Or out of my head / than training these guns on those men in the sand."
