Drake might be a very successful artist in the world of hip-hop music, but Lil Wayne, who was one of the reasons why he shot to fame, believes that the "Hotline Bling" hitmaker is receiving hate within the community because of his skin color.

The legendary rapper recently appeared in an episode of "The Richard Sherman Podcast" where he was praised for discovering artists that later launched them into massive fame.

He credited his mentor Birdman, who is also the co-founder of Cash Money Records, for showing him how to choose among the pool of talented people.

Later on, Drake's name was brought up and it was discussed why he had been receiving a lot of hate and negative responses within the hip-hop community even though he's succesful.

Lil Wayne Reveals Why Drake is Receiving Hate From Fans

Lil Wayne directly shared his answer, saying the reason why the musician receives a lot of hate was because "he light-skinned."

"That's just American history. How I know is, because I'm not light-skinned. I hated on all [the] light-skinned dudes in school. So yeah, it's American history, man," he explained. (via NME)
